The Antigua and Barbuda government's entry guidance, as checked on October 9, 2026, lists all four as visa-exempt for short visits. Visa-Free Entry for Tourism
The Antigua and Barbuda government's entry guidance, published on its CHOGM conference site, lists citizens of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the EU as visa-exempt for short visits. You still have to meet the passport, return-ticket, and accommodation conditions below. UK guidance, written for travelers on a full British citizen passport, gives a maximum visa-free stay of 90 days; that figure is not a limit for other nationalities. Passport Requirements
- Official sources state the validity rule three ways. UK guidance requires at least 6 months after the date you arrive; Canada's advice asks for 6 months beyond the date you expect to leave; the Antigua and Barbuda government's travel tips say only that the passport must be valid for your stay. A passport valid for 6 months past your departure date meets all three. The U.S. State Department asks for a valid U.S. passport, and for cruise arrivals its guidance also allows another WHTI-compliant document.
- Carry your return or onward ticket: UK government guidance lists it among the entry requirements for Antigua and Barbuda
- The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority lists confirmation of accommodation throughout the stay, and sufficient funds for its duration, among the entry conditions
- Health documents depend on your route. Canadian government advice notes that proof of yellow fever vaccination is required in some cases, depending on the country you arrive from or transit through, so check before you fly.
Arrival at V.C. Bird International Airport
Flights land at V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) on Antigua. The airport's customs and immigration page says the paper ED card has been replaced by ArriveAntigua, an online form you can complete within 72 hours of your flight at arriveantiguabarbuda.com; the portal issues a QR code to present to immigration. Official sources disagree on whether the form is compulsory: the government's entry guidance says it is required, UK guidance says it is not mandatory. Completing it settles the question.
At the immigration desk in Antigua
- A passport valid for at least 6 months past your departure date, which meets all three published versions of the rule
- Your return or onward ticket, and confirmation of accommodation for the whole stay
- The QR code from the ArriveAntigua online form
- Evidence of sufficient funds for the stay, if you are asked
Extending Your Stay
Staying beyond the period you are granted on arrival means dealing with the Immigration Department first:
Option 1: Extension
UK government guidance says you can apply to the Antigua and Barbuda Immigration Department for an extension of stay, and that the application carries a fee. Since overstaying is illegal, apply while your current permission is still valid.
Option 2: Leave on Time
UK government guidance states that it is illegal to overstay the period you are granted, or to work without a work permit. Extension fees change, so confirm the current amount with the Immigration Department.
If Your Passport Is Not Visa-Exempt
Nationalities that are not visa-exempt need a visa for Antigua and Barbuda. We could not verify the current e-visa process when this page was checked on October 9, 2026, so it is not described here.
Ask the Antigua and Barbuda Department of Immigration, or the nearest Antigua and Barbuda high commission, embassy, or consulate, before you book flights.
Travel Document Tips
Make Copies
Immigration can ask for your return ticket and your accommodation details, so keep copies of both, and of your passport, on your phone and in your email.
Customs Declaration
Canadian government advice says you must declare, on arrival, more than US$10,000 or the equivalent in other currencies, a rule the airport customs page applies to cash and negotiable instruments. Canada also lists importing or carrying items made of camouflage material as an offense in Antigua and Barbuda, so leave them at home.
Duty-Free Allowances
As of October 9, 2026, the V.C. Bird International Airport customs page lists allowances for each person aged 18 or over of up to 1 liter of spirits and 500 g of tobacco. It also gives visitors a “$50 duty-free allowance” on personal goods that arrive with them by air, without naming the currency. Confirm the current figures with Antigua and Barbuda Customs before relying on them.
Traveling with Minors
U.S. State Department guidance says a child traveling with only one parent needs a notarized consent letter from the other parent, or proof of sole custody. Other nationalities should check their own government's advice and the airline's rules.
