Calm, accessible beach by English Harbour
Pigeon Point Beach sits in the sheltered bay of Falmouth Harbour, just a few minutes' drive from English Harbour and historic Nelson's Dockyard. As one of the most accessible beaches on the south coast, it is a reliable, easygoing choice, with calm, shallow water that is ideal for families with young children.
The beach is fringed with palms and backed by a couple of popular beach bars and restaurants serving drinks, seafood, and Caribbean lunches, which gives it a sociable, relaxed atmosphere. Loungers and umbrellas are usually available to rent, and the gentle, protected water makes it a comfortable spot to spend a full afternoon swimming and lazing.
Because of its calm water, easy access, food options, and proximity to the dockyard, Pigeon Point is a natural pairing with a morning of sightseeing in English Harbour. It can get busy on weekends and cruise days, but the friendly vibe and convenience keep it a perennial favorite for both visitors and locals.
Parking is free in the lot behind the beach, and there is no lifeguard, but the shallow, sheltered harbour water is about as gentle as it gets on the island. Pigeon Point works well as a base for exploring the historic south coast: spend the morning at Nelson's Dockyard, the afternoon on the sand, and the evening up at Shirley Heights for the famous Sunday sunset party. With two beach bars, easy water, and so much history on the doorstep, it is one of the most convenient and well-rounded beaches near English Harbour.
