The Antigua Rainforest Zip Line Tour is the island's flagship adventure activity, strung through the forest canopy in the lush hills beside Fig Tree Drive in the southwest. It is a purpose-built canopy course that lets you glide above the treetops on a series of ziplines, cross swaying suspension bridges, and tackle aerial challenge elements, all under the supervision of trained guides.
The course runs a sequence of ziplines through and over the rainforest, with some spans reaching heights of around 300 feet above the valley floor, plus a vertigo-testing "leap of faith". Guides clip you in, run safety checks, and ride along with each group, so the experience is accessible to first-timers as well as thrill-seekers. Lower, gentler elements suit families with older children, while the longest, highest lines deliver the real adrenaline.
Beyond the rush, the tour is a rare chance to see Antigua's interior rainforest up close, gliding among mahogany and cedar with glimpses of the south coast through the canopy. The forest setting stays noticeably cooler and greener than the coast, and guides point out trees and birds along the way.
It sits about ten minutes from the village of Swetes and close to Carlisle Bay, an easy drive from Jolly Harbour and the south-coast resorts. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you can move in, book ahead in high season, and check the minimum age and weight limits when you reserve. Combine it with a walk in nearby Wallings Nature Reserve for a full day in the hills.
Older children can usually take part, but the tour has minimum age and weight limits, so check these when you book. Lower elements suit families, while the longest, highest lines, around 300 feet up, deliver the real thrill.
Wear closed-toe shoes and clothing you can move freely in. Guides provide the harness and safety gear and run checks before each line. Book ahead in high season and on cruise-ship days.
