Discovering Paradise
One of Antigua's longest white-sand beaches
Jolly Beach is one of the longest stretches of sand in Antigua, running for well over a kilometer along the calm southwest coast beside the Jolly Harbour marina village. The wide, soft, white-sand beach shelves gently into clear Caribbean water, making it a dependable choice for swimming, families, and long shoreline walks.
A large resort fronts part of the beach, and beach bars, restaurants, and watersports vendors line the sand, so you can rent a lounger, hire a paddleboard or kayak, or settle in for lunch and a swim. Despite the development, the sheer length of the beach means there is always room to spread out and find a quieter patch.
Because it faces southwest, the water is calm and the light is beautiful in the late afternoon. The nearby Jolly Harbour complex adds shops, a supermarket, and dining, so this is an easy base for a beach day with everything close at hand. Come early on cruise days for the calmest water and the pick of the loungers.
There is no lifeguard, but the wide, gently shelving beach and calm water make it one of the safer spots for families. Parking is free and plentiful at the public lots. Because Jolly Harbour has self-catering villas and apartments as well as resort rooms, the beach draws a mix of independent travelers and families who return day after day. If you want a single, fuss-free base with a long beach, easy swimming, watersports, and shops and restaurants all within walking distance, Jolly Beach is one of the most convenient choices on the southwest coast.
