Arrive and Settle Into the North Coast
Land at V.C. Bird International Airport, pick up your rental car, and make the short drive to Dickenson Bay on the calm northwest coast. This is the easiest beach base for the start of the trip, with a long, gentle stretch of sand and plenty of places to eat. Drop your bags, change, and get your first swim in.
Settle into island time on Dickenson Bay Beach, where the water is shallow and protected and the loungers, paddleboards, and beach bars are right there. If you have energy after the flight, rent a board for an easy paddle around the bay. Otherwise, just float in the warm water with a cold Wadadli.
Stay close to base tonight. Walk the beachfront for dinner and order fresh fish or a plate of Antiguan saltfish while the sun drops over the water. An early night sets you up for a full day in the south tomorrow.
Lunch at a Dickenson Bay beach bar; casual seafood dinner on the beachfront. Try a local Wadadli beer or a rum punch.
Rental car from the airport (about 15 to 20 minutes to Dickenson Bay). Drive on the left. Keep small cash in EC$ and US$.
~$170 per person
Pick up bottled water, sunscreen, and snacks at a supermarket near St. John's on the way in. Confirm your Barbuda ferry seats and your Antigua-side bookings for the week tonight if you have not already.
